An enormous barrier to recovery for me is a complete lack of self-compassion, self-kindness and self-esteem.
This week I decided it was time to try to tackle this head-on and so am working my way through ‘The Compassionate Mind Workbook’ by Chris Irons and Elaine Beaumont. As well as working through the first 3 chapters, I’ve also created my own summaries to help remind my sieve-brain of what I’ve read and what exercises I’ve done.
Trying very hard to re-train this wonky brain, set on self-destruction.
From what I have read so far, this seems like a useful book and a useful concept no matter the level of ‘wonk’ within your brain…maybe look it out even if you have a small problem with being compassionate to yourself, but also be secure in the knowledge that if your brain is wonkier than than a clown’s pyjamas then it is in no way invalidating or patronising, as well.
